UPDATE 10:53pm PT Image generation and other background processes have returned to normal operations. Users who are still seeing generic thumbnails for recently published vizzes can trigger an update by viewing the viz.

UPDATE 5:05pm PT The system is continuing to catch-up on queued background tasks such as thumbnail generation.

We will provide updates as appropriate.

UPDATE 1:45pm PT Tableau engineers have deployed a solution to accelerate the generation of thumbnails and other background processes. We expect thumbnail generation to return to normal operations by late afternoon / early evening PST.

We are experiencing a delay in the generation of workbook thumbnails following the major upgrade of Public on Wednesday evening (PST). Users may see a generic icon in place of a thumbnail for newly uploaded workbooks in their profile and activity feed. Our engineers are investigating the issue. We will keep updating this page with the latest status.

Tableau Public functionality has been restored to normal. We expect no further service degradation at this point.

Update: Starting at 10:10am PST we noticed that response times for viz loading began to raise again. Due to this our Engineers made another change to improve the performance for our customers. We will continue to monitor the performance.

We will update this thread if we see another impact to performance.

Tableau engineers are working on implementing a solution to reduce the higher than normal response times currently being noticed by customers. We anticipate this change being completed shortly at which time we will be closely monitoring the system for performance improvements.
